I had eczema since little so I've used steroid creams for as long as I can remember. I remember going back to the GP and requesting more hydrocortisone and even at times something stronger cos I didn't know better.
In University I was pursuing my teaching degree and probably due to the stress levels of my teaching rounds, I developed a full body flare up. It was not a great time. Patches of eczema and weeping all over my body. I'd go to sleep around 11pm, itch for hours and hours and I'd finally fall asleep around 3am cos my body would pass out from exhaustion. and I'd have to wake up at 6-7am to go to my rounds.
I visited a dermatologist in my area and they recommended me to do UVB/Light therapy. The scary thing was that they mentioned that doing Light therapy once is fine, but if I was to have full blown flare up again, he wouldn't know what to do as the more you do this treatment, the more you increase the chances of developing skin cancer. This treatment took about 5 months(?). My skin did improve and I was so tanned afterwards too LOL
Fast forward 2 years and it's all come back. ASDFGHJ# I remember googling alternative treatments and I came across the Dr Aron regime. The Dr was based in South Africa at the time but the idea was that he write a script specifically for your needs, you take it to your GP to get your prescription. Had to go through a bunch of reviews and research to go through with this. Things were going great. I was tapering off my application pretty well and the goal was to taper off the cream competely. About 5 years later I was still trying to taper off for my face & neck.
In 2022 one of the IG/Youtubers I was following, Laparasian, uploaded a video talking about Eczema and TSW tips. I was mindblown. I went on YouTube and watched a bunch of videos, joined FB groups, read through protocols, found out about the benefits of NMT so when I was ready, I quit steroids cold turkey and started TSW & NMT.
